Keelham Farm Shop is a destination retail and restaurant experience based in Skipton which opened its doors in 2015. The business has created a unique and award-winning focused farm shop brand with a loyal customer base in Yorkshire. It has been built on all the good aspects of a family farm shop including high quality, locally sourced foods and provisions, great local experience, and highly personal customer service.
The Keelham brand however and can trace its roots back to 1929 when Harry Robertshaw opened a butcher’s shop in Halifax, which led to the first of two farm shops being opened in Thornton, and then the second in Skipton in 2015. Growth Partner then came onboard in 2019, following a demerger between the two shops.
Although the Robertshaw family are no longer involved in Keelham Farm Shop, the legacy and powerful brand they created is as strong as ever, which, for the business’ many repeat customers, is a key to its ongoing success.
Now, under the direction of experienced operators James and Jo Wellock, Keelham is building on its unique heritage and writing a new chapter in their story.
Why we love Keelham
‘Provenance’ is at the heart of the Keelham brand proposition. The provenance of their story and the provenance of the products they sell. This matters to customers, and it’s why customers keep coming back – because they know what they will get in terms of the service they receive, and the goods they purchase, whether to eat in, or take away, will be of the highest quality.
The Keelham team are proud of their brand and their business, but they know that in the post-Covid world, where retail shops are still finding their feet and recovering their footfall, they have to adapt, to grow.
They have an exciting strategy in place to use all the assets of the business – its high-quality products, its restaurant, the loyalty of its customers, its destination location, its heritage and its reputation – to ‘put the magic back into Keelham’ and build towards an exciting future.
